Currently have two endowment mortgages. One originally set up for a mortgage of £36.5k (pay £47 pm) in 1988. Then we had an extension in about 1993 and borrowed £10.5k on another endowment (£19pm). Then we had a further extension in about 2004 and borrowed £25k on a repayment.
First endowment (Both Standard life) is woefully underperforming and expected to be about £19k under. Second one is on target.
I am financially under pressure and we pay £580 pm + endowments. Endowments run until 2013. Repayment I found out yesterday should have run out at the same time - my instructions - but actually run until 2017 - I should read more documents more thoroughly.
I came out of an Abbey fixed rate about 6 months ago whihc has added extra £100 a month. Always been with the same lender - Nat Prov which became Abbey. Excellent credit rating. I dont want to remortgage for 25 years I want to be mortgage free. My question is what should I be lloking for to get the most efficient cost saving mortgage in the time I have left
does that make sense? I am self employed. Current property worth about £160-180000k depending on estate agent.
Thanks
