In Need of Advice

and before I start - I'll apologise if this is in the wrong place, but I couldn't find anywhere more appropriate.
Anyway.......
Sadly my wee mum died recently - she was very careful with money and loved to ruff up the local bank manager for fun, she made her dosh work for her wisely.
My dad isn't too well so we are currently in the process of arranging for him to allow me power of attorney.
I have found several bank accounts one with HBOS, the other with LloydsTSB, but I have also found an investment bonds thingie with Norwich Union. The Norwich Union appear to have paid out the investment, but I can't find the money in any of the accounts.
I know how much it's for and I've got the letter that would have been attached to the cheque.
My question is - I have a feeling my mum has/had bank accounts me and my dad know nothing about - is there anyway we can find out for sure if there are any other bank accounts or investments in my mums name?
By the way she did leave a will but it's not very specific.

Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .
