Broken bread maker, dont want to chuck it

Hi Im a newbie round here so just wanted to say hello :hello:
I was gifted a breadmaker on my local Freecycle. When I tried it out I was really excited about having a slice of my first loaf. It smelt wonderful. When I took it out of the tin the top half was beautifully baked but the bottom half was just compacted dry flour
Im just wondering if anybody know about this, is it a common problem? Is there any (easy) was of fixing it?
Thanks xx

do you have an instruction booklet with it.
mine has a troubleshooting section with it and various results are usually because of too much of one ingredient or too little of another.0 -
Do you think the paddle could be sticking so its not kneading the dough enough? How about contacting the manufacturer and asking them?

it sounds as if it is mixing just not correctly. It could be a belt slipping inside or not following the recipie correctly. Some say add water first, some say add it afterwards.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0
