Mortgagers request

OK i'm confused...can anybody shed some light on this for me please??

Is it normal procedure for a mortgage provider to request access to a mortgaged property at the start of the foreclosure procedure for maintenance purposes?

Not 100%, however part of the T&C of a mortgageis for you or the mortgagee to keep the propert at an acceptable standard of repair. Its been a while since cemap and touch wood I have never been or had a client go through this process.

They may have access to inspect the property. They cannot change locks etc and throw you out without the courts say so. Although I am not that hot on Scotlands law!

  • Thnks Dan, It just struck me as odd as "we require access for maintenance" is something you expect to hear from a landlord and not a mortgage lender and tehre is very little that i have found so far on the WWW about it and all i have manage to find refers to "buy to let" mortgages
