I never sift flour, and i cant be bothered to beat the sugar and butter together before adding eggs and folding in the flour to make a cake. I chuck it all in the bowl together and set the mixer at full speed to mix it all together. They always come out fine!

every night is like ready steady cook
just make it up as I go along
When I make cakes for decorating I still don't sift, cream or grease the pan only weigh the ingredence
    not had any complants yet
  • I don't sift flour because i'm too lazy to wash the sieve :rotfl: it always ends up with bits stuck in it

I don't measure when making a roux sauce, any soups/stews/casseroles, any main meal really - i just chuck it all in and hope for the best, not had a disaster yet (touch wood!) :D

I only measure when baking cakes and biscuits, am too scared of a disaster lol :)

    well theres a question :D

I dont sift flour and Im always swapping ingredients for what I have in the cupboard...

Today I made a lemon drizzle cake... I had no Self Raising flour only white bread flour ... and no baking powder ... so I have a rather flat but soft and tangy lemon drizzle cake which my 15 yr old daughter has nearly polished off :rotfl:

i dont sift flour for cakes! most of my regular recipies are stored in my head and change depending on what i have to make them with they change depending on whats seasonal,on offer or needs using up in the fridge. my fruit cake recipe uses cups and i dont have a copy written down anywhere, and i am often found with a pan chucking things in as i found them to create a meal.

the one time i do follow recipes to the letter is if i am doing somthing new or if i am cooking meat for visitors, as a veggie i dont have much experience with meat cooking, as i cant taste it as i go along.
