If it's a stand alone DVD recorder (type you put under the TV) you need to finalise them before they can be read on other players

Does your DVD recorder use DVD-RAM discs? If it does, your DVD player on your computer may not recognise this format.

Have you recorded on the DVD recorder before and played them on your computer with no problems?

    To all who replied.
I've just managed to record onto a dvd+rw and it's worked. It might be that they only record onto rw.
I'm going to have another go using all rw.

    Thanks for helping a dippy!

    Me again
I've recorded onto a dvd+rw. When I look at it on the pc it's a dvd_vr. It opens as a video_ts vob. I've tried all sorts to make it an mpeg to edit but no luck.
    Any ideas

Take look on https://www.vcdhelp.com they have many guides on converting video and direct you to download free tools to do the job too.

or this one which lists the Vob to Mpeg ones...
