HMRC have taken a CCJ out for £9000 off me, may as well try for £9,000,000

Exactly what they did with me, mmca. I had explained to them that I could not pay their initial 'assessment' of £24k, which had risen, with penalties and interest, to over £60k. We tried to put in a 'defence' but the court ruled in favour of HMRC - result 1 CCJ which I could not pay - 30 days later I was 'judged' to have defaulted. The rest, they say, is history.

They did send one of their own 'collectors' around - he came to my business unit, looked at my set-up - I even showed him my books - and agreed that these were 'not the trappings of someone who had earned enough so as to be liable for a tax debt od £63k'.
In actual fact he was probably the most pleasant of all of the employees? of HMRC that it has ever been my displeasure to have dealt with.
He finished by asking me if I could afford to pay the ccj, took note of my answer, then left - no 'walking possession' nothing - even wished me a pleasant evening as he climbed into his 'taxpayer sponsored' Vauxhall Astra and drove off into the sunset.
The lady who, two weeks later, served me with my Statutory Demand was very polite, although not at all 'conversational' - she had a brand new 'Vectra'
