"First music CD was "The Visitors" by ABBA, and that it was pressed in 1982 at a Philips plant in Langenhagen, Germany. Ownership of the plant was complicated: it belonged to the recording company Polygram, which was owned by Philips.

The first commercial CD album was released in Japan, in October 1982. It was Billy Joel with '52nd Street"

I think the answer is ABBA, did a bit of googling and it seems it was an album called 'The Visitors' here

I'm not 100% sure on this though so you might want to check.

Edit: Sorry for repeating, the first one was posted while I was typing, but at least we both have the same answer!
