we paid appx £1000 for our wedding photographer and I think that was a very fair price. That price included our album of 40 images and 5 mini albums a5 size as exact replicas of the large album. We also got every single photo he took on 2 discs for which we own the copyright of although this wouldn't bother us as we just print of the photos we want ourself. He obviously makes a good living by doing it this way and I personally think it's a much fairer way of doing things.
Years ago when you could only get photos printed at a photo shop then I would agree why should a photoshop make money out of someone elses work. Nowadays with photos being on a cd the majority of people can easily and cheaply produce the photos that they want. Nowadays I think it has to be the better option that a photographer is charging for his time and his costs. Everyone else makes a living in this way don't they so why shouldn't photographers?

£300 for the negatives doesn't actually sound that bad at all to me.

Remember, the copyright (unless stipulated otherwise) of the images belongs to the photographer.
