Can't access router config screen, help!

Are you trying to access the config screens via an Ethernet cable or wireless? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Ethernet cable at all times (apart from when the screenshot in first post was taken).0

Just to clarify: The registry fix I recommended earlier was aimed at fixing your wireless connection. If you can obtain a connection via cable but not wireless, it's worth trying it. If you can't obtain a connection via cable there's something else wrong, so sort that out before you start worrying about wireless.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

This has happened to mine as well ..i had already logged into my router and been using it with Tiscali for a number of years without any problem.
On Monday changed my settings as per TalkTalk and it has now locked me out.
I have contacted TalkTalk to be told my connection is not live yet.
Still would have thought i could access the router to change the settings but apparently not.
Could this be a TalkTalk Problem rather than the router itself?Hi guys,
A friend of ours has now gone live with TalkTalk... I've been trying to set it up but can't access his router config page.
It's a Belkin ADSL2+ Router and according to the literature, you're supposed to type 192.168.2.1 to access it. This didn't work so I tried 192.168.123.1 which worked intermittently then not at all.
I reset the router (it has been switched on with no security for a month ) and since then have had no luck whatsoever. The ethernet cable has been connected to the router at all times.
This is a screenshot of the wireless connection though only went as far as 'limited connectivity'. Not sure what the IPv4/IPv6 is about: http://i32.tinypic.com/wmhyqd.jpg
Any ideas for how to get into the config screen?

garom - try the steps above in particular post #8 and see if that helps? If not, try Start > Run > http://192.168.2.1 > Enter and see whether that loads up the page in your default browser.
Anyhow, I'm back - tried "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" both of which came back saying something like "media is not in a state to switch..." (I can't remember the rest of the msg).
My laptop managed to connect to the belkin router but could not access the internet unless it was connected via the ethernet cable. Same with his (new) laptop. I took my laptop which I know works wirelessly to isolate his laptop being the potential problem.
I then phoned belkin support after trying above steps. They tried to ping various URLs (without success) and eventually decided there was something wrong with the router wireless function and are sending a replacement by post.
Appreciate your help with this, I'll update with developments :beer:0 -
Hmmm - that's interesting and would seem (without further info) to point to a potential (driver or physical hardware) issue actually on your pc - anything saying "media is not in a state to switch" usually indicates that the hardware is not responding to the command (which is a local not network command)...
The fact that your router connected ok pretty much confirms (to my mind) that it is his machine which is the issue (99.9%) - does device manager show the networking hardware (Network interface card) as all ok?
At a guess it's probably just a dodgy/incorrect driver or usual windows corruption - I'm presuming its the on-board NIC that's being used? (Its not a PC-CARD style NIC or anything is it?)

It's a built-in wireless card on his laptop. Whilst both laptops connected with the belkin router successfully, neither worked with the internet. The status of the connection on both laptops was "Local Only" when connected wirelessly.
I've checked my laptop and there's no error under device manager. Not sure about his - I'll take a look next time I'm round there.
The support guy took a while going through settings etc. one of which involved opening TCP/IP and specifying an IP and DNS server as opposed to automatic selection. That didn't work on either laptop which I think pointed him towards a faulty router.0 -
You may want to try this:Local Only- no internet
The issue you are having is a known issue with Vista and Adobe, it's not a router issue. The solution is to uninstall Adobe, re-establish your internet connection, re-install adobe and turn off updates until Adobe resolves the issue.

Hi Crabman
Apologies - I had understood that you were connecting via ethernet - if it was wireless that was used then I can imagine why you got the output from the IP config commands that you did.
If its a true "local only" intranet, then you should be able to access the router - however the fact that you can't probably indicates that it may well be a 'router issue'
Would be interested to know how you get on with the new tin
