Tax when working 2 jobs?

Hi.
I am planning on working 2 jobs. 1 at my current work place and 1 at home.
I plan to work 25 hours a week with each job, so in total, I will be doing 50 hours a week...
So basically, I will be in 2 part time jobs.
1 Job is £6 an hour and I believe I will earning £150 a week for this.
The other Job is £6.50 and I believe I will be earning £163 a week.
How do they work out my tax? I can't for the life of me find anything on the internet about this. Does anyone know how much I will be taxed?

1 salary of this though, I plan to save it all. Does this have any effect on anything?

Thanks,

Cheryl.

Your tax code would be applied to your main job - usually the highest earning one. This will give you your tax-free allowances.

The 2nd job will use BR as your tax code so everything you earn in that job will be taxed at 20%.

    Just another question...
I get taxed 20% with the main job though don't I as I earn under a certain amount?
This is all so confusing :s

You will get taxed at 20% with your main job also but not all of it will be taxed as the first £5435 per year is tax-free. In your 2nd job the whole amount will be taxed at 20% as you will use all your tax-free allowances in your 1st job.

    So for example;

Main job of £163 per week - £11.70 tax
    2nd job of £150 per week - £30 tax
  • Worth bearing in mind is that HMRC will allow you to split your personal allowance of £5,435 per annum between your two jobs. I.e they'll each give you an element of your weekly pay tax free and then tax the rest at 20%. You may find this easier when it comes to budgeting for things.
  • Thanks for sharing the information.Above discussion cleared couple of my doubts..............Thanks a lot...
