Pay off mortgage completely?

I have just 1 more payment and my mortgage will be paid but a friend has told me she heard Martin say you shouldn't pay it off completely. Why would this be? I am desperate to get those deeds in my very sweaty hands!!!! I wondered if it was to keep them safe but maybe there is another reason.
