HELP: Two jobs but am I owed Tax back?

Sorry if its a bit long winded but its been worrying me and the fact the tax office doesnt pick its phone up infuriates me more!

Basically 3 months ago I started a new job (full time) and reduced my old job from 38 hours a week to a "casual" contract (meaning I'm called upon when needed but nothing regular). Got the tax office to switch tax codes of jobs so full time one is now 549L and part time is BR. That seems to worked out fine.

However, the past 3 months I seem to have been taxed more than twice what I was expecting (I earn 1048.08 a month before tax) getting taxed £217.80 on that. Surely this is wrong?!?

What I would like to know is now the new tax year is in place will i automatically get what I'm owed back or will I have to chase this up with the tax office? ( when i rang to change my codes they said it would not take effect until the new tax year?)

Any advice on this would be great as I'm useless at the best of times!

I am in a similiar situation. Did manage to phone local tax office last week, they advised me to write to them with copies of P60 of all employment/tax paid in the relevant tax year. P 60s should hopefully be sent out soon.

There is no deadline for claiming tax back, or at least it's several years!

    Hope this helps.

    Would normally be around £112.

What is your total gross pay and tax paid for the whole year?

You will have to apply for any refund through HMRC. It won't come automatically now that we're in a new tax year.

have rang the tax office and they say to send my 2 p60's in the post with a letter explaining i have been overtaxed, then they can give me a refund.
