Pension and marriage

My partner gets her NHS pension in July this year when she is 60.

We intend to get married, does it make any difference if we do it before or after she is 60?

She also gets her state pension at the same time.

I am 60 in 2011 and retire then (I'm a civil servant) and my pension will be payable then - does this make any difference - I guess not - as my state pension will not kick in till 2016 when I'm 65 - unless they move the goalposts.

Any advice welcome

cheers

I don't think your marriage makes any difference at all.

I've been in a similar position to your wife, ex-NHS and qualifying for state pension from my own contributions then remarried following widowhood .

Before I found wisdom, I became old.
