Pension Ripoff

Can some one explain this.
The goverment have just upped my wifes pension by £23 a year.not much but something. Today she recived a self assesment form to fill in.So she rang the tax office to find out why she had recieved this to be told that she know had to pay tax on her pension and guess what she would have to pay £23 in tax. Is this just another piece of crap that our Goverment implement pushing pensioners further down the poverty line.

There is no rip off on the pension. You just happen to fall under the scenario where the changes in the budget have had no impact on your wife.
