Lenders not updating my credit reports

Hi I wander if anyone can offer any advice

on the 15 march I paid off my mortgage and all of my outstanding loans etc 2 of which had defaults registered against them.

I have access to my experian credit report online and I am using checkmyfile on line to moniter the other agencies. The thing is not one bank or loan company has added an update to my report yet so it still shows I owe £160,000 which is really holding me back for applying for another small mortgage of 80,000. I have rung some of the lenders only to be fobbed off with excuses like its another department, I am not sure which or its all done automatically etc but some accounts have not been updated since feb and there are inconsistancies between credit reports where one loan is shown as settled with one credit agency but not with another. most are now a month overdue for updating:mad:

any ideas who i should start chasing now as they were quick enough to chase me when i got in to financial difficulties

Sometimes when accounts are settled it can take a month or two to update this with the credit agencies.

I would give it at least 8 weeks and then contact the credit reference agencies and ask them to request an update from the creditors involved.

If it causing a problem in the meanwhile, you should be able to satisfy any new lenders with written evidence that the existing debts have been satisfied.

My mortgage was paid off at the beginning of March and it is only now showing on my credit reports, the new mortgage still isn't there so there is definitely a time delay between them. As yours was done 2 weeks after mine hopefully you'll not have much longer to wait.
Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:
