Not to long ago I heard a doctor/scientist? on tv, state that no fish contains Omega3 naturally, they get it from eating algae from the bottom of the sea, and that this algae is the source of Omega3 capsules, that actually are a waste of time as they don't work!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

After seeing the difference in behaviour in my son with Aspergers I beg to differ.. and there are plenty of people who argue with everything.. I think it depends what way they do the research.
The Omega 3 we get states it is derived from the fish.. not algae.. it would be open to prosecution if it wasn't correctLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I'm not sure I get what point you're making though.
All living things, including plant matter, are just made out of substances they have consumed and stuff they have processed out of what they have consumed.
Sometimes that's beneficial stuff like omega 3. There are loads of sources of omega 3. It doesn't make any one of them 'right', other than that some are more affordable than others.0 -
Yes, but the fish get it in the first place from the algae, they do not produce it naturally.
that's not unusal.. our bodies produce vitamin D from sunlight and other nutrients we have derived from other foods.. what is the difference?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
This is a discussion forum! I am discussing, a lot of people think that Omega3 can only be obtained from oily fish, I was just pointing out that it is not and that fish are not producers of it, there are other, better, provisions of Omega3, if you choose to go down the line that it is good for you! Lets have it right, you will find as many "experts" that say a certain food/product is good for you and as many that disagree, everything is up for debate!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

I the same way spinach is a good source of iron but not necessarily the best but our bodies need it so it has to come from somewhere, most people suggest red meat.. however, red meat cannot be digested by our bodies and it literally rots in our stomachs.. which is why people get gassy after eating it. It has to come from our diet so anything that we eat which has a source of specific nutrients is a good idea, but it is sensible to have a balanced diet rich in many nutrients.
I think most people know oily fish is not the single source of Omega-3 but the OP wasn't asking that so I am also a bit confused as to the point you were trying to make.. it isn't very clear.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
