Pore Strips

Hey there,
I'm addicted to using Biore Deep Cleansing Pore strips as I have a large and very very greasy nose and massive pores to boot! And although I exfoliate and tone my face twice a day, my pores still need these strips. I have found that while these should only be done once every 3 days, I need them everyday as my pores fill up again within a few hours. (Sorry for summoning such pleasant images)
The problem now is that its proving an expensive idea, and was wondering if anyone knows of any cheaper alternatives to Biore, as, while they do a fantastic job, cost a bit too much. I tried Beauty Formulas Deep Cleansing Nose Strips, but sadly found these not only a dis pleasant chemical smell but just don't get any blackheads out at all.
Was wondering if anyone knows if T-Zones Nose Strips are any good, or...I dare ask if there is perhaps and way I can make something similar at home?
Thanks for reading

I would really recommend this article at Paula Begoun's site, and also what she has to say about pore strips (she was the 'cosmetics cop' long before she ever made her own products, btw):

I love Kose's charcoal ones... you can usually find them on eBay or Sasa. Infact anything containing charcoal is good for drawing out the gunk... perhaps it would be a good idea to try a masque then you could just squeeze a bit out of the tube and apply a bit as and when needed. Might work out cheaper?
Definitely have a look on Sasa.com (one of my favourite sites for asian skincare) for stuff containing charcoal. This looks interesting (watch out for import duty.)
If it was me though, I'd be looking at what else I may be doing that's causing the pore blockages? Try cutting out various steps in your skincare routine or changing your moisturiser for something a little lighter? Boots Botanics has a good one for oily skin.don't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -

I bought about 20 biore strips from ebay, from a hong kong seller for about £7, I also chose to buy the mens ones as they are larger than ladies and cover a wider area. Most of the sellers of these on ebay are from hong kong, they must be cheap out there!
I too have tried other brands but they don't match up to biore.Fight for clean hospitals, C-DIFF takes lives

Hi - my boyfriend has the same kinda problem as u with his nose - blackhead crazy! i have to bully him to use anything lol so i got fed up paying through the nose (heheee) for Biore.......i found that these http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1033907&classificationid=1018009 do the trick pretty well - theyre Boots own but deffo work! AND this range tends to have 3 for 2 offers etc so u can stock up often! i find that self heating clay type masks do wonders for his skin - most brands do their own but anything containing dead sea mud is great - also try a lighter moisturiser such as http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1005597&classificationid=1017970 this controls the sebum in skin etc so may help :beer:Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0

Hi, I had the same problem as you - a v greasy nose with large open pores - but found that the nose strips didn't work at all on my nose and were painful to get off where they stuck to my cheeks!
Have just started to use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and have noticed that the pores on my nose are no longer as clogged up as they used to be, so maybe the key is gentle exfoliation or a milder skin care product? Maybe you could try your normal face wash with the muslin cloth method. I don't know if it's just me, but my face feels more deeply cleaned than if I'd used a normal exfoliator. Also, what toner do you use, as I find some toners to be a bit harsh so never use them?
I'm also a fan of the Garnier Skin Naturals range as it seems to be the only moisturiser to keep my skin moisturised without being greasy and my boyfriend uses the T-Zone pore strips as he says they stick better than the Boots ones.
Hope that helps0 -
Thanks guys! That article really changed the way i treat my skin too - i stopped sort of 'attacking' my pore and started working with them.... LOL My skin is SO much better now, in fact someone asked me the other day to write down the products I used because she said she envied my skin! For someone who grew up with my skin, that's amazing... :j0
