Hi
There's been a few weddings at work lately and a lot of them have had the photobooks done where the photo is the actual page. Now I think these look fantastic but looking around bare minimum price I can find is £1600!!!!!!!!!
Is there anywhere you can send your own pics to be done like this? ( i know about the £39.99 Kodak service, but was thikning about something more akin to the expensive ones) Then presumably we could use a mix of 'official' ones done by a paid photogrpaher and informal ones by friends
Also another thought I've had is that you don;t get CDs of the other photos, or they charge £100s for them, would it be better to just get a 'normal' album, then you have the physical photos to take into a shop and get blown up, canvassed or whatever?
And finally any recommendations in the Selby, North Yorkshire area, or willing to travel for either the photobooks thingy or straightforward stuff

Our photographer is putting our pictures onto a copyright free DVD for us so that we can get the prints and do the albums ourselves. We're paying £360.
Am not sure where you would stand if you tried to get copies of photos done by a professional. It would depend who holds the copyright for them and you may only be able to get prints from the actual photographer.
Our photographer has recommended Bob Books for albums

What about this company? I haven't used them myself, but have been admiring their photobooks for a while now, and dropping a few hints to OH about buying me one for my birthday!

I can't point you in the right direction, however, I should imagine prices for photobooks will be very expensive.
Unless the book is digitally printed, the bulk of the cost will be in the set up of the press (setting the job up, calibrating the colours, etc.). The more copies that are printed the cheaper the unit cost will be. As your wedding photobook would be a short run, you'll pay a premium!
How about paying for the photographer to put the hi res files on CD? You can then distribute them to all your friends and family? Our photographer is charging us £350 for that.

We are having 2 photographers - one to do the 'weddingy pictures' and another to blend into the background to do the 'reportage' style. We are having them both ALL day from prep to first dance - they are charging £500 to put all images onto a DVD for us copyright free. I will also be using Bob Books to do my photo albums and poss a couple of album pressies for the Mums. I have heard loads of good things about Bob Books but there was NO WAY I could justify £1600 on a photo album:eek:0 -
Thanks to all, I'm going to have a go with the free layout software with Bobbooks, make sure I can manage it, birrova techlexic
I'm thinking then IF we can find a decent local photographer we can mix their ones with others by the guests - thinking of putting CDs on the tables for them to send us them, or email them for a mix of formal and informal and also so that (hopefully) the pics continue till the end of the night (and we don;t end up with 20 photos of bare bums)0 -
I had a photobook done through photo box,
They do the same thing and its alot cheaper.
They do look good too, i actually had one done for my daughter birth - 3 years.
cheap too, i think less than £20.:ASexy_fufu:A0 -
Find someone with an Apple computer and use the free software iPhoto as you can do your own photo books on there.
You design them completely to your own spec and then send the file to Apple who return a lovely book(at a cost obv)
Or have you tried photobox?Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
just looked up photobox and they doing bogof on their books at 20quid0

www.bobbooks.co.uk are amazing and only £50! Mine is my pride and joy. They are miles better than the Asda or Boots ones as you have more freedom on how you design themIt all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0

This company looks like a good idea - I'm not sure if it produces an album at the end but you certainly get access to everybodies pictures ?
