Can you buy a UK compatible Nintendo Wii in China?

I originally posted this in Techie stuff, but think it's more appropriate here ...
My husband and I have been talking for a while about buying a Nintendo Wii but have been put off by the price.
My Father goes back and forth to Beijing all the time with work and it's occured to me that this might be the best way to get a good price on a Wii.
I had heard Nintendo do now sell in China but wondered if the Wii's there will a) be compatible with UK games etc and b) be any cheaper at all?
I need to decide soon as my Dad retires in a few months!
Any advice?
Thanks in anticipation ...

Unfortunately, Wii is not yet officially released in China, inc Hong Kong, Taiwan. The date has been changed many times, and the rumour has it that the final version will support all country format.
You can still pick up some cheap Wii in China, but they are either US or Japan version.
DS is cheaper though, if you are interested. The official version is about £70.00, and always in stock.:T0 -
