My Mum got my Dad and Brother one of these each for xmas. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125129

It has car, bike and pedestrian modes and is only £75 delivered.

Yup I've used mine for walking before, but now the battery doesn't hold its charge so I an only use it in the car.

Lottyxx - have a look at this site. The maps are OS based - ideal for walking/cycling. The site will also help you with the devices available. If you decide on of the devices is for you Google it for the best prices. Same applies to the maps.

Useable battery time on the devices can be a problem (depends how long you plan to use it for).
