MSE Wendy is spamming all BB's

with ways in which to invalidate you car insurance policy. I have reported this to the ABI for fear that people may fall foul in cheating the job desciption thus being technically uninsured.

  • someone has been and locked all her threads, so clearly something wrong,

... the weekly email has just gone out with a link in to the tool so they don't need anymore feedback, hence closing the threads asking for help... ;)
... as for your other point, they were requesting help from a cross-section of MSEr's, hence cross posting on different boards...

    Dear Tbeckett

First of all the ABI is a trade body, if you want to report the tool to someone then the FSA would be more appropriate.

Secondly the tool is in no way about telling people to misdeclare their jobs... its probably best you had actually looked at the tool itself before reporting it... even to the wrong people.

And MSE Wendy was posting on mutliple boards on my request and with my permission (as you'd expect from a member of my team).

The tool - im very pleased to say - is now up and running... you can make your mind up about it go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance-job-picker/

And if you don't like it and feel its misleading... please feel free not to use it! Shame you didnt feel like responding in the feedback threads your thoughts.. .funnily enough thats what the 'feedback and help us improve it' thread was for!

    Kind regards

    Martin

Martin, I know the intentions are of course good, but i do worry that people may get a littke niche with their jobs and invalidate their policies. Whilst you expect people to keep within the confines of the law, I wouldnt want the site to be held to blame if something was to happen nor would I want anyone to lose their car in an accident and not get a pay out if the insurance company decided that a better job discripton was made available.

I think they are honest concerns and not deemed a slight on you.

The mods on this BB are constantly moving posts to correct places, so I was surprised one mod was allowed to fly post nearly every board. Of course, its your board and i have to stand corrected.

Hi thanks for your post. Just to note MSE Wendy isn't am mod - she's a member of my editorial team - which is a very different thing :)

As for the tool. Of course the last thing we want is that people fraudulently apply for insurance. Yet that's not what the tools for. I've been very careful with my wording "subtle tweak" and the HUGE Check its legit button which explains what it is about.

If I adopted a philosophy of not providing any information which a few people will misuse it, I would need to close down the forum, and all my articles. I adopt a 'give people the correct info' stance.

In developing this tool - we've worked hard to put all the correct messages in there, with clarity. That's why Wendy was 'spamming' the boards; to ensure enough peopel saw it and fed back to ensure the messages were right. The very helpful feedback meant we honed it.

If you've any more suggestions to make it more clear, they're always welcome

    Kind regards

    Martin

And now she's posting requests for bank charge issues!!!

Why not rename the Grabbit board as the "Grabbit and Wendy" board???????????????????????
  • Hi LesD,

As Researcher for MoneySavingExpert, Wendy is trying to find Bank charges case studies, as the judgement on the first part of this hugely important trial is announced tomorrow.

    Hope this helps
