Too early to look for a new deal?

Greetings to all.
My 2 year fixed deal with Nationwide comes to an end in September, but it seems like the mortgage deals available are getting worse and worse as time goes on. Is it too early to choose a mortgage now and set it all up?
If the above were possible, would it be possible to back out of a mortgage between now and September if a better deal were to come along in the meantime?

No and yes.
Many lenders will hold an offer for 6 months.
Nothing to stop you backing out of a mortgage if you found something better.0
