Companies been paid but money still in bank???

Hi all,

My husband had a work bonus at the end of March, and we used it to pay off things like the car HP, council tax and various loans.

We have had confirmation letters from the companies thanking us for the payments and that our accounts are now clear, but 2 weeks on, the money still appears to be in the bank unsure.gif

The bank are insisting that they haven't had any requests from the companies to take the payments, but the companies are saying that they have been paid, and we have confirmation letters showing it?????

Anyone have any idea where we go from here?? Its a hell of a lot of money, but we darent touch it just in case.

Any help appriciated!!!

  • Tell them what? And tell who?? We have told the various people but they are saying that it HAS been paid, thats what we are struggling with. They say they HAVE had payment. We called them straight away!! I think its the bank, but again, the bank are saying that they havent had any requests

well leave the money in the bank for 3 months (maximum) if it hasnt been taken by then, then you can spend the money as you please. You have the thank you letters, which can and will legally throw out a case against you if the company says they havent been paid.

It sounds as if the payments have been made but not out of your account.
The Bank will start making enquiries as soon as the mistake has been reported by the person whose Bank account has been used.

Wrong. A claim can be made up to six years for payment.

Stick the money in a high interest savings account. They will catch up with eventually and ask for payment. As dmg24 says they have up to 6 years.
