What can i do with maple, fruit and nut porridge

Hi

as a new sahm (with a 6 week old baby) and hopefully oser i really want to stop throwing away food (mostly bought by oh and not on my menu plan  ).

i have a box of quaker oats with maple flavoured sultanas, dates and pecan which i would like to make into a cake/biscuit of some description.

i have milk, eggs and sugar but no flour in.

i have visitors this week so id love to show off my baking skills :T

thanks in advance

(i don't have much experience of baking so quantities in the recipes would be a lifesaver)

  • they are like porridge oats daisy daisy
  • OK, well here some suggestions -
if you can get some golden syrup (you don't need much) you can make:

    flapjacks

    75g of butter or margarine
50 - 75g light brown sugar (I am sure white sugar would work as well)
    1 tablespoon of golden syrup
175g of porridge oats (your quaker mix)

    1. Put the butter or margarine, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and stir over a low heat until the fat and sugar have melted.

    2. Add the porridge oats and blend thoroughly.

    3. Press into a well greased 18cm square sandwich tin.

    4. Bake in the centre of a moderate oven at 180c or 350f or gas mark 4 for 25 minutes or until evenly golden brown.

    5. Mark into fingers whilst warm.

    6. Allow to become almost cold in the tin before removing.

Or you could use it as a crumble topping on top of any fruit you like but I think apple would go really well
    55g/2oz butter
30g/1oz caster sugar (any sugar really)
30g/1oz rolled oats (your quaker mix)
    30g/1oz flour
melt butter, add the rest, cook for 2 or 3 mins
put on top of your ready cooked fruit and bake for 5-8 mins @ 250C

    hope that might help!
