'Value' laundry products - any good?

  • I haven't used the mainstream brands now for nearly ten years. Found I like Asda's own brand the best..both washing powder tablets and conditioner.
I also only ever use one tablet, as I don't think you need two.
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!

I use Tesco own brand non bio too and their own brand conditioner and have had no problems with it at all.

I buy the Tesco Colours and Non Bio for whites Tablets, very pleased with results.

Own brand is fine I use it mostly, don't reallly rate value though, but have just stocked up for 6 months on Ariel Bio and Colour when it was on sale at Home Bargains. Keep a look out at place like Home Bargains and Savers they quite often do some seriously good value things. Instore had Glist dishwasher tablets for something like 7p each , but I only bought one box and when i went pack they had none left. So if you see a bargain stock up. Somerfield have good deals, sometimes, if you have one near you
Jane does your Karate child have a white Gi. When my son ( who got to brown and white and gave up - silly boy!!) did Karate the Gi came out lovely with some spray starch before ironing, lovely and crisp - at least for the first 5 minutes, but lovely when doing a grading to see him the crispest!!
  • i find that asdas own colour tablets dont disolve properlyand i end up having to wash the clothes again because they have soap powder marks on so i dont save money cos i wash clothes twice!tescos own are fine

If you are wary about trying a different brand, why not try cutting your usual amount of detergent? I agree with valk_scot. I use surf powder, I use just under half of the recommended amounts and everything turns out fine. If this works for you it will cut your laundry bills in half!

Also using a capful of vinegar instead of softener works wonders! It doesn't make you smell like a chippy, I promise, and it also makes your laundry dry faster. I do still use softener for jeans, but again, I use less than half of the 'recommended' amount.
