State Pensions and NI contributions.

Hi,
My first pensions post, so go easy please!
My mother is 58, so will be claiming state pension in two years time. She hasn't had a full working history because she has taken part time work to look after us during our childhood. Of course, this means that her NI contributions are nowhere near enough for the state pensions. Is there any way that these NI contributins can be paid during the next two years to claim the pension?
Confused..

If she was paying full NI contributions previously, she can get Home Responsibilities Protection for up to (I think) twelve years after 1974 if she was claiming Child Benefit. This will reduce the amount of time she has to pay.
When is her actual State Retirement date? If after April 6th 2010 she only has to pay/be credited with 30 years of NI anyway.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
