Current account transfer to closed account

I recently transferred cash from my current account to a foreign exchange company who use TSB Lloyds. The foreign exchange company is in the process of relocating and the accout which I have used on numerous occassions is now CLOSED. My bank tell me that the funds have not been returned in order for me to claim it. The director of the closed FX company tells me that TSB Lloyds have assured him that they have sent it back to Halifax. My bank tells me the cash has not been returned and that there is nothing they can do as it was my mistake in transferring to 'closed account'. Can anyone advise?

You have no claim against LTSB.
Your contract is with Halifax and the foreign exchange company.
How did you send the money - was it online?
You should take evidence of the transfer to the forex company and demand to see evidence of its return to your bank.
An electronic transfer such as CHAPS or BACS should automatically be returned to sender if the account is closed but it could be that someone has put the money into an open account in that company name.0
