Hi all,
I have just been into Asda and got anti age facial cream 30 and protect sun lotion 30 which was two for £6.00. It rates as one of the highest on the sun protection cream market too!
I also use ELF (Eyes lips and face) cosmetics which knocks spots off some of its competitors, great products for fantastic prices.0 -
One way of promoting your eBay shop I suppose

Love this thread!
I'm guilty of believing that a high price tag = a better product at times, when we all know that isn't true. When I've got a few hours to spare I'm going to read through the whole thing, and probsbly end up wanting to spend a fortune on lots and lots of cheap stuff!
My tip is to use one of the Supermarket own brand conditioners as a shaving cream. I use Tesco value because it's around 30p and Asda smart price is usually £1, but it's great! Helps the skin on my legs to be soft too.0 -
Re gel eyeliner. I have real problems using these because the colour smudges onto my upper lids once I open my eyes properly and looks bloody awful. I've got quite heavy upper lids (just below my eyebrows?) - it's an age thing I guess. A blepharoplasty is on the cards - I don't think there's a product in the universe that will help me!
But I love these gel liners as they're so easy to use and harder wearing than pencil. If I use powder on top to seal the colour and stop it transferring, it fades the intensity of the colour. Any (cheap) solutions?0 -

I tried this before but found the conditioner seemed to make my razor blunt quite quickly?
I now use my body wash Johnsons Skin Care 2 in 1 moisturising body wash which works really well and goes really far when used with a body puff. It's not the cheapest but I stock up when it's on half price I'm Tesco or Wilko so about £1.20 for 200ml but lasts ages.
Also the Tesco copy of the Wilkinsons triple blade disposable razors are cheap (about £1.99 for 4) and good, one lasts months!0 -
I'm sure I posted on another thread, but for what its worth Boots Curl Cream £1.29 for 250 ml.
A bargain buy, Creates nice curls, waves, rather than a dragged though the hedge cave-woman look. I just put some in after washing and leave to dry naturally.
I will seriously freak out if they stop making it.:)
Read the reviews, if you're at all hesitant. The best product I've used.
I FINALLY got round to trying this after reading about it on here ages ago and have to agree it is really, really good...doesn't go "crispy" looking but gives really nice curl definition. I tried it out for the first time yesterday and actually got compliments on how nice my hair looked! Absolute bargain and definately one I'll be continuing to buy so thanks to the various people who mentioned it
Whilst I'm posting, thought I'd mention another couple of products I've been using for a while now:
Spa Premium Age Reverse 4 in 1 Cleansing Wipes with Ceramide - 99p for a pack of 30 from Quality Save/Home Bargains. Possibly the best face wipes I've tried and I've given most brands a go! Not drying, get your make up off well (including waterproof mascara) and a bargain price.
Boots Botanics Face Sensitive Skin Calming Cream - £6-ish for 50ml but often in some kind of multibuy offer. My skin is quite sensitive and flares up after I've washed my face or even just been in the shower but this really sorts it out. It's really nourishing but not too greasy or heavy for my combination skin and sinks in really quickly. Also has SPF15.0 -
a lot of things on the front pages of this thread were from 2008 and a lot of new products have been released since then .As both superdrug and tesco have three for two across cosmetics and boots and superdrugs both have 10 points per £1 spend i thought i would come on here and resurrect this thread.
I am looking to get a thickening mascara which doesn't clump and has a good brush for seperation, a new semi lipstick in a colour/texture suitable for spring/summer, so not heavy but a fresh colour for fair skin if you have any colour reccs!not coral or peach shades as i have a yellow undertone.
(they have been advertising maybelline colour sensational lipstain which looks like a jelly type/ice pop type, but the reviews on mua are not very good.)
also a foundation- non oily /not fragranced. my collection 2000 one is getting a bit old. i only use a little to cover patchy areas.
perhaps an eyeliner, can the same one be used on the waterline? and what is best for a novice - a pencil, gel liner, felt tip pen type?
thanks for any advice!!:)0 -

I have some suggestions
Mascara - not a thickening one but the new maybelline illegal lengths will thicken with 3 layers, outstanding length and excellent separation, No 17 in the pink tube is one of the best volumising ones I've used, separation is average.
Lipstick - by far the best is No 17 mirror shine, comparable to Chanel products and a lovely selection of colours, check out Belle for a pretty pink, sugar daddy for a brown/neutral colour.
Revlon colourstay is a good mid priced foundation, not sure if its fragrenced, the one for oily skin is highly pigmented so a little goes a long way and it mixes well with mositurisers etc for a different look, also heard good things about the body shop all in one compact powder foundation if you like that finish.
I tightline my eyes too and can highly recommend Rimmel waterproof eyeliner, its a twist up product that doesn't shift even when my eyes water, not a massive choice of colours I have the black and plum and they are excellent true colours and much better than my MAC pencils, we wont even talk about the price comparison;)
Good luck:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Another vote for the holika bb cream, it is AMAZING! I wear it instead of my regular foundation and my skin looks so much better. The gorgeous cream peachy blush in the lid is fab too, blends really well and is a great colour for me. I haven't tried to mainstream BB creams as I heard the Asian ones were miles better. Now I have the holika Im not interested in trying others.0
