Mortgage - first time buyer

After some advice please.
My family and i currently live in a council house and are looking in to buying our first house. There are some part buy part rent houses being built close by, however they will not be completed until Sept. They will be sold at market value at the time.
I don't have the best credit history as i was silly with money in the past. Who would be the best people to go to for advice on getting a mortgage? i tried my bank but they couldn't help as i don't earn enough as they don't take in to account tax credits.
I currently earn £14k, but with tax credits we have a household income of about £24k. My husband is a house husband as we have 3 young children.
I think i would be looking to borrow about £60k. I currently have about £10k in debt on a car loan and personal loan.
I would also be looking for a 100% mortgage if i could if not what % deposit would i need to put down?#

I doubt very much whether you will get a 100% mortgage, most of them have been withdrawn. You are looking at a 10% deposit really, possibly more if you have a bad credit rating.

I would forget it in the current climate and stay where you are.
