Will I? Thanks.
It might be irrelevant to some people but I take an interest in all things money.0 -
Down by 0.25% followed by three further 0.25% cuts taking the base rate to 4.25% by the end of the year, Inflation will go over 3% and then interest rates rates will rise again and the ride continues.0

Not totally irrelevant.
If they raise them by 5%, all non-fixed mortgages will rise.

With house prices crashing 2.5% in March, maybe a little political intervention will see a larger cut in interest rates to ease the pressure.

I dont think 2.5 is a crash, I think it reflects the loss in mortgage apps going through for purchases and people being unsure of what to do next.
I do think they will go down a little more but we still need homes so I dont think it will be crashing to 30-40% drops.0 -

yes, makes you wonder if the banks saw a possible 0.5% cut coming, and have maneuvered ready for it? I reckon 0.5 seems possible after todays news (+major pressure from the PM I bet). but I voted 0.25.0

It seems that the only way to benefit from Base Rate reductions at the moment is to go onto SVR if you're coming to the end of a fix.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
