To final settlement or not to final settlement

Options
I currently have aroun 13,000 of debt being looked after by Payplan and i have just had a very pleasent (remarkable i know) conversation with one of by debtors..regarding settlement figures on two of the three halifax debts they look after..he has suggested taking settlement figures for two of them potentially saving me £154.22p !! i know this may sound silly but with fear of upsetting the rest of the sharks and the fact that payplan don't seem to keen on the idea in fact appear to be dis-suading me from the idea. !! i don't want to risk payplan sending all my debts back to me ??

so do i or don't i ? the debt collectors aren;t charging interest on these three debts can't seem to get any idea about the others.. any suggestions anyone please ????

Personally I would not bother. The Payplan agreement would have to be recalculated and, as your say, the other creditors would ask why you have paid the Halifax and not them!
Unless the write off is a substantial amount, I would leave it for now.

    Good Luck!

i would disagree with that ... our advisor with the CCCS told us that whilst we might a get a bit of a slap on our wrists ultimately the agreement would continue. Despite which, who is to say that an old , long forgotten aunt doesnt offer to give you some money but HER terms are that they money is used to clear off one debt...the plus side being that all the other creditors will get more so its a win win situation. I think that if you are making an effort to clear your debt in as fast a way you can then good on you.
:EasterBun ...what more do I need to say?!

I'm also in the progress of trying to find out who charges the most interest ... funny how they only want to talk to you when your ignoring them but you try to get information with the intention of paying and they don't want to know..

and yes the same amount will be paid just to less debtors.. i know i really need to go for the ones who are charging interest..possibly catalogues mind you i spotted a tip from jason regarding Consumer credit signatory .. if i did sign it was over 8years ago chances are they may have lost it..fingers crossed..and that is £154 on two debts of a total of £700 !

Long lost Aunti eh !! never used that one ???
