Doesn't help that all my pans are loose bottomed so I can't work out how much they hold LOL.
GCSE maths will help
If they're circular, the volume is pi (aprox 3.14159) multiplied by the square of the radius, multiplied by the depth.
If they're rectangular, the volume is the edge lengths multiplied together, multiplied by the depth.
Does that make sense:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I'm too lazy to work things out (and my poor brain would probably explode) so I would just double or triple the recipe to make sure I had enough to fit the big cupcake tin.
Any mixture left over would be made into smaller cupcakes and frozen.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Of course, and me the one who taught the dunces in the class as well, should have thought of that
Thank you!
So now I just have to convert the cup size (I'm guessing it'll be american cups being a Nordicware pan so that's straightforward).
And in the meantime I also found How to Convert a Cake Pan Size, in order To fit a RecipeEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I'll add this to the exisitng thread now
If you're looking to convert cups, we have a thread on American Terms where that's explained:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Cups per se aren't really the problem LOL - I actually possess (and understand) UK, American and Australian cups (which are all different sizes) as well as UK/American and Australian tablespoons (again, different sizes). The recipe I've done today used cups, sticks, tablespoons and teaspoons and gave no indication of what country it originated in so I had to assume America because of the 'sticks'. I know some people love cups but I loathe them because there is so much scope for mistakes. Bleugh! :mad:Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Hi all - anyone got a foolproof way of working out how much cake mix is neded for larger tins? I need to make a large round cake 18" or so and want to work out how many ingredients I need and how long it will take to bake?
ThanksPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
