Harmsworth's Household Encyclopedia

Does anyone else have a copy of this amazing set of books? I picked up mine in a second hand book shop yesterday. They are a set of 6 tomes from the 1920's (ish - possibly early 30's) about everything and anything. My favourite bits so far are 'how to build a bungalow' how to host an 'at home' afternoon party, 'how to make a rocking chair' and how to cook just about anything that moves in aspic:rotfl: Some of the ideas are a bit terrifying like make your own barometer using mercury:eek: but there are lots of wonderful moneysaving ideas and interesting recipes.

They are quite special - practical but also nice to look at and an amazing bit of social history!

These were here before I married, but some genius decided to burn them( yes I could cry!) as they were old!

Might consider getting them off Amazon....
