How long........

Hi everyone, I am new to this boardand wanted to find out a bit of information. Had some work done (agricultural) in 2005. The same person also excavated a driveway for us, he quoted verbally £1500 and yet the job when he finished cost us £3250:eek: We paid the bill for the driveway but a few months later the driveway started to sink. We contacted the person responsible and he said he would look when he had time. We didn't receive an invoice for the other work and assumed this was because of the problem with the drive. However yesterday we received a bill for £200 for the other job and a small note at the bottom asking if it couild be settled:mad:
We are pretty angry, not only has it taken nearly three years for the contractor to send the bill, he never recompoensed us for the rubbish job he did on our driveway.
My questions is, how long do you have to send a bill?? Surely there must be a legal stipulation. We will write to the contractor and tell him what we think of him
but woud be nice to have all information available.
Can anyone help

Perhaps if you just reply, reminding him you are still waiting for him to come and check the problem with the drive he laid, he will conveniently forget about the £200?
I suspect he'll get the point ;-)0 -
Aside from the issue of the unsatisfactory work (which I agree you should ask to be remedied), a debt can be claimed up to six years after it was incurred.Gone ... or have I?0
