I think because many people are now used to having a PC at home they often see their work PC as an extension of the same and as such use it in much the same way, unless they get pulled up by the organisation they work for.

Unfortunately this can lead to you exposing yourself unnecessarily to potential breaches of your personal and/or financial security not to mention falling foul of company policy.

That said I’ve worked for a number of orgs that have had very laissez faire attitudes to staff internet use, so long as you avoided the obvious 'dark side' of the net which lets face it unless you are very stupid, addicted or just like taking chances, common sense would tell you to avoid in a work setting.
