Buying a Flute

Morning everyone,

I'm buying a flute for my daughter 11 who's been playing at school for a few months, her teacher recommended a Jupiter 511ESSC 'split E' which we can buy through the school saving the VAT (we find the best deal, they order it)

The cheapest i've found is £169.36 plus £10 delivery at www.imusician.co.uk

Just wondered if anyone out there had any advice or know anywhere cheaper?

I would really prefer to buy from a shop, we're in Bristol.

Thanks very much

i don't live in your area but the price sounds ok to me
you can always sell it on when she's done with it.

don't forget that a flute will need regular servicing- a good while ago they used to charge me around £35 to change the pads and make sure the keys weren't sticking.
be sure to ask your dd's teacher what will be needed.

wolfehouse where can I get mine serviced? Haven't played it for many years and it needs a good clean too before I get rid of it.

    Thanks

go to your local music store or school. if they don't do it, they may know someone who does. (or ask your local school music coordinator cause they all know each other from when they were small and in band together....)

in glasgow I go to band supplies- it's a shop that sells/services instruments. (the hint is in the name)
I don't know which stores you have round about where the angels fly.

    Hey Skint Cat!

You probably already thought of it, but what about a 2nd hand one? I bought one a few years back for someone, and only paid £50 for it, then £25 to have it serviced, and apparantly it was excellent! The shop that serviced it is gone now though, sadly, all the good music shops in Bristol seem to be closing down.......

    Good luck,

It's often cheaper for kids to hire them than buy them depending on the offers in your area.
