Hi was wondering if anyone could help.
me and my work collegue have both been offered £80 Per Week EACH (After Tax) car allowance.
only thing is he cant drive. as we do anywhere between 100 - 400 miles a week theres no other way for him to get to work.
so the only option is for me to pick him up everyday, so my £80 Per Week is going to go one car costs, (isurance finance, ect..)
how much do you think is resonable to ask off him per week ?
petrol is not an issse as i can claim back 20p per mile.
but he lives 15 mins away , i know it dont sound like much but it adds up, and it's my own time.
Any help would be great.

How has your work colleague managed to get into work before this allowance was offered? Surely getting to/from work is entirely his own responsibilty, and not yours?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Probably the same way as he does now.maninthestreet wrote: »Surely getting to/from work is entirely his own responsibilty, and not yours?
The post isn't about responsibility, it's about someone giving a lift to colleague. Everyone is responsible for getting themselves to work, but that doesn't mean they can't offer a lift to someone, or accept a lift from someone.
To the OP.
My employer offers extra mileage payments for each passenger you have in the car. So you may be able to get another 10p per mile for picking up your colleague.
Or you could negotiate getting half his car allowance. Your employer will still be saving £40 per month.
For your colleague, try to work out what it would cost them if they had to get the bus. Then look at what it actually costs you to pick them up, plus a bit for your time and trouble and try to find something between the two.
Obviously if you manage to get extra from your employer you would deduct this from what you charge your colleague.0
