IVA What bank Will Give Me An Account?

OH NO...Never even thought about ID as my driving licence and passport have got my previous married name on.

Banks have a habit of thinking "they're managing their account well - lets give/sell them an overdraft - it'll be a nice surprise". And it's human nature to use it if it's available.

My friend is on an IVA and she was told in no uncertain terms to get a basic account as it avoids this tactic. It also means that you have less chance of an unauth overdraft as they will not pay a Direct Debit when there is not enough money, then charge you twice for the privilege (a la Ratsnest).

Get your driving licence sorted as its the quickest route. It can be back with you within 2 weeks.:j

Its also a criminal offence not to inform them of changes and can incur upto a £1000 fine:rolleyes:

I changed my address online and the new licence came within a week. You may have to send some ppw if you are changing your name though, but its still worth having a look.

Your all soooooo helpful thanx. Im a bit low as im not too proud of going down the IVA route, but I guess things will be worth it in the end.

By doing an IVA, you are repaying money to your creditors. They wouldn't accept it if you can pay in a reasonable time on a DMP, so they would prefer you to do that then go BR.

It's not easy - you're paying for 5 years. That's a long time. You should be proud of being able to make that commitment.
