toaster recommendation

Hi all, I have been reading the forums anonymously for quite a long time and here is my first post.
I have recently bought a Prestige Symmetry toaster @ £25 as it got a good write-up in the Telegraph. See http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/416_208329.html for information.
I must say I am disappointed because it burns Warburtons thick sliced toastie bread (orange packet) on setting 3. So settings 4,5,6 are pointless unless I want charcoaled bread. Plus an even worse problem is that the bread does not fit properly on its side so I have to insert it vertically. This means a section of the bread is not toasted.
I now plan to take it back to the shop. Can anyone recommend a good 2 or 4 slice toaster that will toast evenly and take bread of a reasonable size without having to stop it half way though and turn the bread around?

Hello cheesyhoward
We have a Breville four slice toaster which will accommodate 'doorstep' size slices of toast.:D We bought it from Argos but I've just looked and our model doesn't appear in the latest catalogue. The nearest is 422/3436 at £19.99 Breville TT28.;)
I recommend that you take a ruler or tape measure to your nearest Argos or white goods store and measure the width of the slots before you buy. That's what I did with Argos to make sure that I could toast teacakes and 'doorstep' sized toast with mine.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride.
