Just popping in to say welcome & well done so far! Would it be worth OH having pocket money & you controlling fnances for a bit...bet you could really get your DFD down & start toward the american dream? Worth a try maybe. Have you had a look at "Money saving old style" for grcery budget, meal planning etc...can make a huge difference to paying back!!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Just wanted to say well done too. My OH is the same with the food. Spend a fortune as he is always 'starving'. I can never take him food shopping with me, we would spend at least double the budget and all the bags have to be squeezed into the car!It Will be Mine.............ITV Cash Win, Ipod Touch & Spa BreakI have the comping bug!0

Hi All!
I feel bad now, like you felt you had to post because I'm talking to myself LOL
But thankyou!
Had a nice chat with OH and he's agreed we need to cut back on the spending on junk food, I think he realised it when we were in Asda yesterday when he said there's no snacky stuff, and I said but is there food for breakfast lunch and dinner.. then he realised!
I've offered to make him fairy cakes for sweet snacks which we can make cheaper than him buying junk food all the time....
He's also now transferring me £700 a month and Im taking over control of the money for paying things back etc, so I know whats coming off of one etc, and where to put the overpayments etc.
I've been trying to plan out my next weeks shopping list, so we shouldnt be spending loads, and found some really good posts on old style, esp Sammy Kaye? How that woman does it is beyond me, but good on her!:smileyhea NewYorkCityBride&Groom :smileyheaPositive things happen to positive peopleTotal Debt £25,317.59 (Apr '08)Total Current Debt £22,832.77 (July 6th '08)0 -
Which one is sammy kayes thread...been reading the usa gc one & amazed she cooks for so little! Let me know if you want a linky! Can also confirm that the hobnobs are deeelicious but not necc a good thing for the waistline with 8oz butter in!! Good that youre sorting stuff & that OH is on board! Fabby!! Homemade food SOOO much nicer than shop bought plus the smell of homecooking is second to none! Have you got a bread maker? I love mine!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi NYCB!
Heres me thinking i'm the only one with an OH who eats like a ten year old:p Mine is so bad that he will actually eat rubbish till he gets sick...yes thats right not FEELS sick actually GETS sick. I do the hiding nice things (biscuits, crisps, chocolate etc), but he keeps finding the hiding place:mad: New plan: just dont buy any if he wants them let him go buy them!!!
Love the momentum your building up thanks to your goal of living in NYC. I'm the same I need a goal!! Congrats on getting the OH on board:T

Hi ISOM.
We dont have a breadmaker, solely because we dont really eat that much bread! LOL it ends up going stale and mouldy.. so we dont really need to buy anything more than a half loaf... plus got a v.small kitchen...
Sammykaye has a thread about feeding her family of 3 for about £150 a month, very inspirational. I'm not great with links though otherwise I'd post it! LOL cant remember the name either... I'm so pants!
Hi Irish... Yes I'm glad to find someone else who has the same problem with the OH... one of the biggest problems is for a few days he'll seem like he understands and then he'll revert, thats what drives me potty! Was his bday today tho so shouldnt complain too much!
My only problem is that if I dont buy the goodies, and say well if you want it you go buy it, he will, and he'll spend a fortune.. at least this way I have some control over the amount of junk! LOL...
Maybe he'll just grow out of it sooner rather than later.... I can only hope...:smileyhea NewYorkCityBride&Groom :smileyheaPositive things happen to positive peopleTotal Debt £25,317.59 (Apr '08)Total Current Debt £22,832.77 (July 6th '08)0 -

Hi Puzzled....
I do keep thinking about the challenge... all a bit maybe maybe in my head at the moment...Got quite a lot going on which needs organising...
Having a bit of a low day today, not for any apparent reason but just feeling a bit drained.... Need to make some payments to cheer me up I think:smileyhea NewYorkCityBride&Groom :smileyheaPositive things happen to positive peopleTotal Debt £25,317.59 (Apr '08)Total Current Debt £22,832.77 (July 6th '08)0 -
Still feeling pretty low, and anxious over something but I can't name what... havent been sleeping too well either...
Spent out on some herbal tablets earlier to try and help. I think I might be heading toward another episode so I'm trying to head it off at the pass!Havent had much of an appetite really either so really shud try to eat a bit better to help myself out on that one.... just been eating junk for the sake of eating, not a good way to go!
However have paid off £250 today on the debts so going great guns with that. Just waiting till may 1st so that I can add them into the snowball calculator and it all be in sink. I didnt realise it took it off the month when you add the transaction, so its sent mine a bit out of whack... oh well. It's easy to work out, I only made the mistake with one payment.
What happens when you get paid on the 25th I guess!:smileyhea NewYorkCityBride&Groom :smileyheaPositive things happen to positive peopleTotal Debt £25,317.59 (Apr '08)Total Current Debt £22,832.77 (July 6th '08)0 -
Hello me
Well another £60 off the total today
Unfortunately I can't seem to get onto the snowball today, no matter which way I try to access it... all a bit odd, will try again late though so I can update.
Spent £45 on Tesco.com last night for the food shop which will last a fortnight, with the need for some fresh veg top up me thinks...
Finally got a day off now, so off till tuesday woohoo!
Got lots to be doing, but just need to catch up on some lazy time, work has been manic so I'm glad for the peace and quiet now:smileyhea NewYorkCityBride&Groom :smileyheaPositive things happen to positive peopleTotal Debt £25,317.59 (Apr '08)Total Current Debt £22,832.77 (July 6th '08)0
