12 months left on a 5.02% fixed rate...

Should I be looking to move? I was feeling fairly smug thinking that I'd be insulated from the effects of the credit crunch and that everything would settle down by the time my fixed rate comes to an end, but with the latest group of mortgage providers withdrawing products, I'm not so sure.

Any ideas? My plan was just to see how the land lies in a year's time because I'm not going to get anything like my current rate if I switch now.

Theres no point swapping now. You wont find anything that cheap and you will have an early repayment charge to pay, so its pointless.

But, congrats to the OP for having the title of a Half Man Half Biscuit album as his nick. I think I must get in early to register the nick of the new album CSI: Ambleside :)
  • Great even better than discussing mortgages lets have a chat about HMHB.

But I can put a tennis racket up against my face
And pretend that I’m Kendo Nagasaki"

Half man half biscuit - that brings back memories. I watched a whole gig through a mirror at the back thinking the rest of the audience were facing the wrong way. I shouldn't have been allowed near alcohol.......

Now I'm feeling guilty about going off topic.....

    ... no I'm not !!!!!

Yeah, I got a Dukla Prague Away Kit - my uncle owned a sports shop and he kept it to one side.

Am desperately trying to think of any mortgage references in 9 albums of lyrics... alas none. :( Unless.... a re-mortgage for.....

"When I had my loft converted back into a loft
The neighbours came around and scoffed
    And called me 'retro'"

    :D
  • Well if house improvements are fair references, how about:

    They've got the whole world,
    In their house,
They've got the whole wide world,
    In their house,
    They've got the whole world,
    In their house,
    To see the new conservatory.

Ah, Paintball's Coming Home. BTW, if you have Lock Up Your Mountain Bikes, can you please PM me? :)

Don't even worry about mortgages for the time being, just sit smugly on that rate until the next snowfall. "This" only affects folk with an imminent move to SVR to be honest.
