Is it to late to cancel?

Hi guys,
Just after a little advice, I went to see a broker on Wednesday about a new mortgage and found one with the abbey. Its a 3yr at 5.79% I asked if it has a booking fee/setup fee and he said no !!! he said it was a good offer and printed off the details for me. I had a quick read but did not notice that even though he said it did not have a booking fee he had actually just put it onto the mortgege . We went through the application and it was accepted ok. I was away with work straight after the meeting with the advisor and have just checked the paperwork now noticing the £999 booking fee. He did the application on line and I only signed a money laundering form, is it to late to cancel the mortgage as I can get 5.29% with the same booking fee myself.

My questions are:-
  1. Can I cancel the application?
  2. Is it going to cost me anything as credit checks have already been done ?
Help required please as I am starting to think I have now got a poor deal for the next 3 yrs!!!

Thanks

no, if you have not signed anything committing you to an advice fee then you should be able to pull out. You would normally be asked to pay for the survey fee up front - if you have not done this then there should be no issues.

Just read through the paperwork carefully and I dont blame you for being peed off - lying is bad.

  • im sure you have to sign for the mortgage when the mortgage offer comes through so you should be able to back out.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, the only thing I signed was for the money laundering check, he said the paperwork would arrive in the post over the next few days and the valuation and legal fees are free.

    Thanks again
