Telephone answering service

Hello, I have been thinking very hard about home based jobs and have decided to use my admin and reception skills and try to promote myself as a virtual assistant.

After just a couple of days of asking around friends i already have three people interested in my services and for the most part they want to know about how i could answer their phone calls while they are busy working (they are all self employed sole traders).

i know i can divert their phones to mine, but how will I know who is calling. Does the callers number show up on the caller id or the diverted number? Does BT have a special service for this type of thing?

Has anyone else done this. Should I ask for a monthly charge or a per call charge? and what should the price be. I have seen prices of £25 per month which to me seems a bit steep for a sole trader with minimal calls.

I am going into this right at the begining, I am not set up at all but need to research how this might work before i say if i am willing to do it (and hand in my notice at work!)
I intend to do this service alongside other virtual assistant type of services. I am scared to be considering this but I am amazed at how quickly people have said how useful it would be. So perhaps i am not as mad as i think?

    Hi nzmegs

I have done something similar to this in the past and have used varius methods, unfortunately i am now busy working on other ventures to do this.

If you want to PM me i can provide you with the links to telephone services that are free and will help you in your business and possibly offer your customers additional services too.

    Many Thanks;)
