I've had 3 towels drying on an airer for about two days now!!! Nothing will dry them, I try putting them in front of the oven after I've finished cooking with the door open, this helps a little and they do smell a little of roast dinners but rather that than damp.

I used to hang tops on hangers on the curtain rail until it fell down and my OH refuses to put it up if I do it again!

I'd love one of those ceiling ones but I doubt I'll be allowed it rented accomodation.

J D Williams actually have an electric one, it costs 39.99 and is 100w, they say it costs no more than a lightbulb to run. I did think it was a clever idea and a good compromise between an airer and a tumble dryer.

I have ordered one of these from a different company...looks good.

Can't wait for it to come.

No one has mentioned the pull out clothes line that can go above your bath? Not pretty but effective, personally I use something like thisEP6016.JPG
I prefer the wooden ones as they cannot rust and mark your washing, mine has a purpose made heater that fits under it and a bright yellow shroud thingie that covers it all up. I find it faster than a TD and I can iron stuff and put it back to air on the same rail.

I had one of these years ago, and it was brilliant.

Haven't seen the same kind anywhere.

If anyone has seen them will you let me know where please.

Above the radiator across the window, at the back of the house.

I use those over radiator airers, the ones that slot over the radiators and have 2 rails. things dry fast on these even if the radiators are not on. A bath sheet dries on one of these folded in half and as long as its turned regularly doesnt take ages

  • We recently moved from a house with an airing cupboard and an overhead airer to a house with a combi boiler and no airing cupboard and no overhead airer. We've installed a washing line which is great except when it rains! I've been struggling to get the washing dry especially as we are a large household and have a child in cloth nappies. We do have a tumble dryer but it takes ages to dry the clothes especially in this new house. I think this is because the extractor hose has a long route. I really need ideas before winter comes and I can't dry anything outside-even between showers!.

I use the radiators when the heating is on. Also a foldaway airer in the bathroom. :)

    Hi,

I bought a couple of the drying racks that you hang on radiators, from one of the pound shops / Home and Bargain (or similar), and use them when I can, rather than just hang wet stuff on the radiators (still have the wrinkley wallpaper in the living room as evidence of my wet washing !!).

Quite handy - about 3 rows for layering your washing, better for underwear and lighter stuff if you use all 3 rows - towels etc, you're better just using one or two rows to let the air circulate.

    Do you have a garage?

If so, you could set up an indoor line.

I have a pull out one, but depending on how a garage is used you could have permanent 2 or 3 lines across.
