Nationwide mortgage rates

Now that I'm coming to the end of my fixed-rate period - end of May - Nationwide's fixed and tracker rates are pretty much the same as their SVR (unless you pay a hefty fee). It seems better to just go onto their SVR and hope interest rates drop a bit before fixing. Or do people think grabbing any fixed or tracker going is still a better option right now ?

From what I can see, tracker and fixed rate deals are only going one way at present - upwards - so personally if I were you I would try to reserve the best deal available right now.

I'm stuck with Nationwide, we moved last year and the new part of the mortgage still has a year to go on the fix.

  • Pingu, is your deal with Nationwide? I am an existing customer and have not been offered this!

  • My daughter and partner have been offered 5.65% for 5 years with Nationwide too, their original fixed rate deal ends 31/05/08.

Nationwide wrote to them about 3 weeks ago listing their options once the 2 year deal was finished - that was the best by far (for them)

The Nationwide 5yr fixed rate is here maybe if you push them they would reduce it a couple of points... down to 5.65%

I only wish I had listened to OH 3yrs ago when we fixed with Nationwide for 5yrs... he kept telling me to take the 10yr fixed... dammit

  • We're in the same boat - 3 mortgage products with Nationwide and 2 coming to an end this year. We've got to wait til June to reserve though as I think you can only reserve a max of 3 months ahead of your current deal ending... just hope it's still there!!

The five year LOYALTY fix, i.e. for existing customers, is here http://www.nationwide.co.uk/mortgage/existingcustomers/loyalty_interest_rates.htm

5.83% if you have 25% equity
6.03% if you have 10% equity
6.43% if you only have 5%.
