Good company car for little tax?

I am due to change my company car at the end of this year. My current car (A4) costs me £290 a month incl fuel tax and I obviously want to reduce this.

I do approx 30k business miles a year so the car needs to be comfortable, fast & drive nicely etc. but I need to combine this with family needs (have 2 kids) and it must have a lot of luggage space (A4 not very good for this) as we travel a fair bit.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cars with low Co2 emissions? Diesel is good as it seems to have the lowest figures but it's trying to combine all the needs which is hard work.

Passat or Skoda Superb 130 bhp TDI? Superb is bigger and cheaper but not sure if the leasing prices are better or not - it's a very nice car. The brand new model Skoda Octavia is also very nice looking and has a decent boot.

IF I had a company car (and I don't because I take an allowance instead) I would definitely have a nice, fast, diesel one because you will pay minimum 15% car tax compared to far more on a similarly fast petrol model. You want your diesel co car to be Euro IV compliant, though, or a 3% diesel supplement will apply.

This website lists which diesels are Euro IV compliant: http://www.comcar.co.uk/motorstoday/adv_e4.cfm?OType=Make,Model

I drive the New Honda Accord (and I'm under 40!!!).

You get a lot of car for the money and all the gizmos as standard including heated and electic seats, satnav, sunroof, aircon etc etc.

Their Diesel engines are amazing and the list price should mean that your tax bill falls considerably as well as the benefit from the lower emissions number.

The other thing worth considering is a LPG powered car - particularly if your employer is willing to 'share' the fuel tax saving. I think Volvo do LPG cars as standard.

You can get good deals on the S60 which is due for replacement soon or the new S40/V50 are both highly rated in tests.

check out https://www.whatcar.co.uk, https://www.autobytel.co.uk and https://www.topgear.com for good head to head comparison sites of the different models.

    Have fun car shopping.

All the big car makers have Company Drivers type 'clubs'.

Not anything you pay for - just contact them & they'll gladly mail out brochures, regular newsletters & magazines.

Ford have one called Talkback. you get special offers, promotions, extended test drives, competitions, that sort of thing.

They all have their ways to convince you thiers is the most tax efficient vehicle, too!

Worth it to e mail a few that you consider possibles.
