DVD-R and DVD-RAM recorder grade A2 stock £99 +P&P

Options
This is an old model with aging (DVD-RAM) format support. These have reported problems known as the loading error. But it is an expensive unit (well it was) and at this price might be worth a look? DVD recorder have collapsed in price I saw ones in ASDA for £89! so this item at £106.80 delivered is NOT a cheap or entry level player!

NO RGB input so don't expect it!

Was browsing ebuyer and saw this DVD recorder at a low price. The units are graded, which means thet are not as new.

Not ideal if you are new to DVD recorders and this is your first buy, but might suit the more tech savy users with a need for DVD-RAM support and iLink (firewire camcorder) on a high end bit of kit for £99 + P&P =£106.80

They are classed A2 (A1 being near perfect) I've read reviews and people say that the unit they got was fine with scratches on the rear of the unit.
There is no statement about reduced warantee so I assume (!) that they ship with a full manufactures warantee. Might be worth checking with JVC about this?

The units are not multi region and there is no simple hack.

Another issue seems to be a problem with a fault on this model known as a "loading" bug. Refer to the reports below.

This is a top end player and writes to DVD-R and DVD-RAM (betamax of the DVD format wars!) it seems to read anything.

I has firewire but apparently this is only for Cameras' not PCs.

"First and foremost, although it has the i-link or firewire input/output, this ONLY works when dubbing from a camera! It does NOT work when dubbing from a computer system. This little fact was not mentioned on any of the sales brochures I saw, but was buried on page 86 of the manual. To me, not being able to record from a computer cut its usefulness in half. "

Also the model number is wrong on the Ebueyer site!

"We ordered the unit and have been trying things out today. It's a DR-M10S on the box.I've been quite impressed with it - a little hard to use, and even though it's A2 stock the only problem I've noticed is a few marks on the print on the rear of the unit.

The DVD recorded nicely, but it would be really nice to edit what you record before closing the disc - ie remove the end of an advert and the pause/play bug from the Sky+ at the start. I don't know whether that's all, or just this one.

On the whole very impressed, lots of features, but a little bit of a learning curve involved"

Here is a mag review:

FYI DVD-RAM is the most reliable rewritable format for DVDs, but the cost of blank DVD-RAM has made it unpopular. The unit will write to DVD-R as well.

  • Good feedback though I must say even though you say DVD RAM is an aging format it has many advantages over more current media in the fact that DVD-RAM can be written too many times more than DVD-RW and supports Timeslip so you can record and playback at the same time.

The loading error you mention has been fixed in these graded models and the 12 months JVC guarentee gives piece of mind anyway.

Its now at £75 + delivery so IMHO is good value
