Update on Ikea ................

Was in Ikea Glasgow yesterday, asked them about the Dublin store opening. We will have to wait until 2008

Keep saving your pennies until then, or do the day trips to Glasgow!

Can't believe  we have to wait that long! Thanks for letting us know, looks like I will be travelling on the P+O ferry a few more times!

It's a pain if you go on the day trip. You can only get so much back with you. Although there were a few trying it on...say no more................;)

Depend on how many are on the coach and how nice your bus driver is :D

On the leaflet it says that you are not allowed to bring anything bigger than what you would carry under your arm, however, I did hear of someone bring a kitchen (complete in flatpack) home. I'm saying no more :D;)

Do they not deliver to Northern Ireland?

I heard the costs are a bit high but surely one person could place the order and everyone else could chip in the delivery costs?

  • They do deliver from Glasgow, but as far as I'm aware it's for larger items only. Someone clarify this for me please?

I have heard that there are a few enterprising bods around who do regular runs to IKEA, having taken a list of what people want using the catalogue. then they go and buy all the stuff and bring it back - obviously for a price, but probably cheaper and definitely easier than going yourself. Unfortunately I don't have a single name or phone number. Sorry! Alternatively a few people could get together and hire a van/box van and split the costs. Ooo now there's an idea!!
  • If someone is going over with a van can they let me know please:D :D I forgot a few *small* items :D:D
  • Last time we had goods delivered (12 months ago) it cost us £80. That was for 2 fully loaded Ikea trolleys. As mst of it was heavy flat-pack, - not bad overall.
  • According to guys last time we were over they will deliver up to 2 pallets for £80. We got 2 chests of drawers and wall to wall wardrobes on one pallet. Delivery was efficient (not Famac!) and I'd say well worth it, particularly if you can split it with friends/family. Means you could fly over as well, if you can get a cheap flight.
