Looket 3.5" Sat Nav £59.98 @ Misco (can run tomtom)

This unit seems very similar to the much featured ebuyer cheap satnav.

Now the ebuyer one is almost £80, this one is available for £59.98 + P&P ...can run tomtom in the same way. User replaceable battery and faster CPU.

  • Hi,

I've been watching this since I got the Misco email yesterday.

What proof do you have that leads you to think it can run the famous software?

Possibly because it runs WindowsCE 5.0 , the Navigo was the same & tom tom 6 could be installed on it. Just guessing though....
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!
  • Trouble is, it doesn't have a USB port, so running PPC RegEdit is out of the question, it'll only work if it will accept TT on an SD card..

Looks a bit fisher price chunky compared to the sleek navigo but if you can run tomtom or miomap on this it will be quite a good deal.

I'd say the opposite to be honest; have you seen a Navigo in the flesh? We've got one in the household and it's not exactly sleek.

A difference of opinions, I suppose, if you have seen one.

    Cheers,

I'm afraid the only proof is my word...

I have the ebuyer Navigo, and have just got the Misco Looket. You just change the name of the tomtom folder to 'DRIVE', and the *.exe to 'DRIVE'.

Must say the Navigo can take 3 minutes to get a GPS lock, this new one gets it in under a minute.

I'll PM you in a moment.

I've just had this email back from Misco:
"Thank you for your interest in the Looket 3.5 Inch Touchscreen Sat Nav.
'Sygic Drive' software is installed on to the device, featuring the British Isles map.

Postcodes can be entered with up to 5 digit accuracy e.g. NN8 6 or PA15 1. After the postcode has been entered, a specific street can be selected.

Unfortunately there are currently no map updates available for the UK and we are unable to supply maps for any other country.

Points of interest (POI) installed on the device are: Airport, Bank, Bus Station, City Hall, Community Centre, Exhibition Centre, Ferry Terminal, Hospital, Motel, Motoring Organisation, Museum, Open Parking Area, Park and Ride, Parking Garage, Petrol Station, Police Station, Railway Station, Rental Cars, Restaurant, School, Shopping Centre, Ski Centre, Sport Activity, Theatre, Tourist Office, University / College, Vehicle Repair Centre"

  • Hmm.. tricky one that.. look in the URL of this window; it says:

Why not save yourself almost £40? If you're missing this small bit of information about the site, perhaps you'd best go elsewhere!

  • Some of us do buy our software legally.

FYI I have a legitimate version of TomTom 6 here.
